Rebekah Stott, is a 28 year old center back, who is no stranger to the domestic and international stage. She made her senior debut, only at the age of 19, for New Zealand, and almost 10 years later she is looking forward to World Cup 2023. Which will be hosted by New Zealand and Australia.
However, even after her long list of accomplishments, like winning 3 straight championships W-League with Melbourne City, being named to Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Team of the Decade, none of it would fully prepare her for being diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma in February 2021.
Nonetheless, Rebekah chose to face it head on and with a positive attitude, as she was very open and forthcoming on her social media channels and with her blog ‘Beat It’ by Stotty.
“You’ve just got to take what you get and make the best of it, because why be miserable when you can be happy?”, Stott stated on her blog.
This is exactly why we at CMG, thought it would be the perfect opportunity for us to start our own journey with Rebekah. Not only because she is a great center back but also because her fight, desire, and passion to make this world a better place is infectious.
We are honored and proud that Rebekah “Stotty” Stott has chosen us to help her with the next steps of her professional career. The fact that she faced cancer, in remission, and back on the pitch after 6 months only speaks volumes to her determination and dedication.
